WBS offseason recap

With summer mostly wrapped up, let’s take a look at how things have shook out for the WBS Penguins. Their summer certainly isn’t done, and they’ll likely look to add a couple more forwards for depth purposes, but we’ll cover those moves as and when they occur. Returning: On two-way NHL contracts, the Penguins retained left wingers Tobias Lindberg and Thomas DiPauli, centers Teddy Blueger … Continue reading WBS offseason recap

2018 Penguins mock NHL Draft

One of my favorite times of the year in professional sports is the draft. Plenty of new names entering the league, some with high potential to be franchise leaders while some become fascinating role players in the league. Two-hundred and seventeen names will be called this weekend as a new crop of NHL prospects enter the fold. Jim Rutherford and his team have been hard … Continue reading 2018 Penguins mock NHL Draft

Penguins Prospect Rankings: 10-1

Part 3 of the rankings has us going through prospects 20-11. This is where they may be some contentious rankings, so again, if you disagree, don’t hesitate to let me know @steczar 10. Penguins Sign Tobias Lindberg To 1 Year Contract Extension

The Penguins announced today that Tobias Lindberg has re-signed with a team on a one year, two-way contract worth $650k at the NHL level. Penguins Prospect Rankings: 27-21

As we’re just about to hit the offseason, it’s a good time to take stock of the Penguins pipeline, as shallow as it is perceived to be. I’ll be providing an evaluation of what player they will be in the NHL, as well as a comparative player. Ranking is done on a combination of likelihood to achieve their ceiling and what their ceiling is. 27. … Continue reading Penguins Prospect Rankings: 27-21

Another RFA defenseman for the Penguins has signed in Europe. After weeks of speculation and questionable reports, Championat.com has reported that Andrey Pedan, who spent all year with WBS Penguins, has signed for reigning KHL champions Ak Bars Kazan. Penguins not signing 2016 3rd round pick Connor Hall

According to Jonathan Bombulie of TribLive, the Penguins will not be offering an entry level contract to 2016 3rd round (77th overall) pick Connor Hall. If you have kept up with Hall’s development, this is not a surprising turn of events. Drafted after only playing half a season for Kitchener Rangers of the OHL, Hall only managed to appear in 17 games in 2016-17 due to … Continue reading Penguins not signing 2016 3rd round pick Connor Hall

Prospect and RFA RD Lukas Bengtsson Signs In The SHL

Penguins prospect and pending RFA Lukas Bengtsson has signed with Linkoping of the Swedish Hockey League. An undersized defensman, Bengtsson had strong skating and a surprisingly robust defensive game to supplement his obvious puck moving ability. Rumors of his desire to head back to the SHL surfaced in early April, but nothing had come to fruition until today. This is disappointing but understandable news. His … Continue reading Prospect and RFA RD Lukas Bengtsson Signs In The SHL
