Aston-Reese has been effective in the recent surge of depth-scoring coming from the Penguins’ line-up that has led them to win nine of their last 10 games. He has two goals and two assists in that span of games and a plus/minus of +5. Through 30 games in the NHL this season, Aston-Reese has added 11 points.
Unfortunately, the injury comes from a fight in a 4-1 Penguins win over Florida on home ice. Aston-Reese dropped the gloves with forward Colton Sceviour six minutes into the third period, and you can see on his first punch he struck the helmet of Sceviour and grimace in pain. He then removed Sceviour’s helmet before pulling him to the ice.
Penguins defensemen Marcus Pettersson also fought MacKenzie Weegar in the same game.
Garrett Wilson, who is the captain of the Penguins’ AHL affiliate, has eight goals and 10 assists in 18 games in the minors. Through 14 games with the Penguins in the NHL, Wilson has amassed just two points.
