Wednesday night the Baby Penguins travel to Lehigh Valley and we have some more roster moves to recap. Tiffels was recalled then reassigned to Wheeling a day later, alongside Josephs returning from injury and Prow who had been healthy scratched a few times. Colin Stevens was also returned to Wheeling after being released from his PTO. Kostopoulos remains out injured, but Maguire is healthy enough to return.
Wednesday Night (12/6/2017)
Lehigh Valley (Away) – 5-0 Loss
Corrado is the most interesting scratch, indicating he’s likely to be called up. Spinozzi, McGrath, Burton, Thomas and Haggerty are the other healthy scratches. Anthony Peters gets the call in net after a strong showing over the weekend. Awful first period on the scoreboard where the Penguins gave up 3 goals, and they never really looked into it, despite the fact they somehow registered 15 shots in the period. Tyrell Goulbourne potted a 4th goal shorthanded to start the 2nd period and resulted in Peters being replaced by Sean Maguire. WBS didn’t play bad after this point, but failed to register a goal in the 2nd period as Tokarski turned in a solid performance. Notably, head coach Clark Donatelli put out the 4th line of Sestito, Blueger and DiPauli on the powerplay towards the end of the 2nd period to send a message to his usual PP performers. This message was as a result of the shorthanded goal given up and yet again, the WBS powerplay failing to generate much in the way of positive chances. Matt Read added a 5th with 6 and a half left in the game before a small brawl broke out. Archibald taking a run at Lehigh Valley goalie Dustin Tokarski with under 4 minutes left as a physical demonstration of WBS’ frustration with their performance led to some unhappy campers on both sides. Despite 39 shots, the Penguins could not pot a goal from any one and Sestito was the only player not on the ice for a goal against. A game to forget for WBS.
